How Do I Configure Vehicles?

The Vehicles Pane, located under the Assets tab, allows you to manage your fleet by adding and editing vehicle records. Each vehicle entry typically represents a truck or transport unit used in your collection and delivery operations.

⚠️ Note: Vehicles cannot be deleted at this time, only edited.


🚚 What is the Vehicles Pane For?

This section of Route Simplified is used to:

  • Register new vehicles for routing purposes (Vehicles will be added to routes in the routes pane of Route Simplified)

  • Edit or update vehicle details

  • View all operational vehicles and their assigned identifiers


How to Add a New Vehicle

  1. Click “Add vehicle” at the top right of the screen.

  2. Complete the following fields:

    • Name – A descriptive title for the vehicle (e.g., Monster Truck)

    • Decal # – A unique identifier, such as a decal number, license plate, or internal tracking code

      3.  Once both fields are filled out, click Save to register the vehicle in your system.


✏️ How to Edit an Existing Vehicle

  1. From the Vehicles Pane, click on a vehicle entry to open the detail view.

  2. Edit the Name or Decal # as needed.

  3. Always click Save to confirm your changes.

🛑 Currently, there is no delete or deactivate option. Make sure to double-check details when first entering vehicle data.


Best Practices

  • Use a naming convention that’s consistent (e.g., “Truck 1 – Dallas” or “Unit 015 – East Depot”)

  • Use the Decal # field to track plates, VINs, or internal codes

  • Review vehicle records periodically to ensure accuracy


🧾 Summary Checklist

  • Add a new vehicle via “Add Vehicle”

  • Enter both Name and Decal #

  • Use consistent, clear labels for each field

  • Edit vehicles as needed (no delete function currently available)
