How Do I Configure Oil Settings?

⚙️ Configuring Oil Settings in Route Simplified

Setting up the oil collection parameters ensures accurate data entry, consistent measurement, and improved reporting. Follow this guide to customize the Oil Settings section to fit your collection operation.

💡 Each setting can be adjusted per your preferences and saved individually using the Save button on the right-hand side.

🔄 1. Collection Type

Choose how your team records oil collection at each site. The dropdown offers the following options:

Option Description
Container collection Best for standard service with known container sizes.
Simple collection (volume) Record collected volume in gallons or liters, no container tracking.
Simple collection (weight) Record collection by weight (pounds/kilograms) when volume is unavailable.

♻️ 2. Default Waste Deduction

Set a default percentage of collected product to be deducted automatically from total volume to account for impurities (e.g., water, food solids).

Example:
If the setting is 20%, and you collect 100 gallons, the system will log only 80 gallons of usable oil.

📏 3. Collection Measurement Type

Determine how field operators report measurements when servicing an account:

Option When to Use
Gallons collected Direct entry of total volume in gallons.
Pounds collected Use if weight is known instead of volume.
Percent full Use when observing the tank visually or with a sensor that reports %.
Inches from top Standard for measuring depth from the top of the container.
Inches from bottom Use if your gauge measures from bottom upward.

📈 4. Default Fill Rate Type

Choose how the software calculates the expected fill rate when no manual entry is made:

Option Behavior
Fixed Uses a set value for all collections.
Last 5 average Averages the fill rate from the last 5 collections for each account.

✅ Final Step: Save Each Setting

Make sure to click Save next to each individual setting once adjusted. This ensures your preferences are stored and applied across all collection entries.

📌 Pro Tips

  • Review settings during account onboarding for accurate data tracking.

  • Adjust waste deduction seasonally if product quality varies.

  • Use Last 5 average fill rate to reduce manual input while improving forecast accuracy.
